Outdoor Leadership 101
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
Health insurance is required to participate in this program.
Ever wondered what makes some people such great outdoor leaders? Want to lead your own trip but feel a little intimidated by being called “leader”? This experiential course includes an introduction to leadership styles, managing group dynamics, decision making, trip planning and execution, and teaching methods. The course will include both indoor classroom time and outdoor field activities. You will go home with increased confidence in your ability to be a leader. The program will be led by one or more of ADK’s Education Department staff.
Please plan on meeting at ADK’s Education Yurt Village at 9:00am. While the yurts are heated, participants should come dressed for winter (warm layers, warm boots, wool socks). Class will run until the mid-afternoon. Come prepared to spend some time outside in unpredictable weather. No prior outdoor leadership experience necessary.
ADK members receive a 10% discount on programs and lodging. To reserve lodging at the Adirondak Loj, please call the Adirondack Mountain Club at (518) 523-3441 or book online.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Tyler Socash, ADK’s Education Programs Coordinator, at (518) 523-3480 x 120 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to meeting you. Come prepared to learn and to have fun!
