Fall Trails Day Wright Peak Ski Trail ( Hard)
TRAIL PROJECT: At the end of every hiking season when the leaves fall to the ground a final patrol is conducted of most of the trails in the Eastern High Peaks. The focus of the patrol is to remove any debris that has accumulated in drainage ditches and waterbars so that they are ready to drain properly in the spring. Volunteers also remove any blown down trees and also sidecut any encroaching vegetation from the trails so they are cleared for wintertime recreation.
Basic hand tools will be used to complete the trail projects mentioned above. Volunteers should expect to use tools such as a hazel hoe, shovel, pick mattock, hand saw, and pruning shears. Instruction how to use these tools properly and safely will be discussed prior to beginning work by the ADK Crew Leader. Be prepared to work hard physically and to get your hands dirty!
Note that the project will require most of the day to complete and plan on returning to the trailhead between 4-5:00 p.m. We will work in virtually any and all weather conditions as long as the ground is not frozen.
