Wilderness First Responder Re-Cert Fall
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
Health insurance is required to participate in this program.
The 3-day Wilderness First Responder Open Recertification course is hosted at ADK’s Education Yurt Village, located at 1002 Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946. This intensive three-day workshop is open to graduates of any wilderness-based first aid training course that was at least 64 hours long and completed within 3 years of the proposed recertification option. Successful graduates of this course will receive Wilderness Medical Associates’ Wilderness First Responder, Anaphylaxis, and Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider-level CPR certifications. Wilderness Medical Associates’ WEMT graduates with a current EMT-B or Paramedic certificate may also recertify the wilderness portion of their WEMT with this course.
**If you are using this course to recertify a WMA WEMT it is your responsibility to let the sponsor know when registering, and to inform the instructor on the first day of class.**
Plan on meeting at 8:00am sharp each morning at ADK’s Education Yurt Village. Limited parking is available near the yurts, with overflow parking available at the Adirondak Loj. See the directions link above for details. Class will run until approximately 5:00pm each evening. Multiple sessions will be held outside in the rain, sunshine, or snow. Please be prepared for wintery conditions. Good physical condition, proper clothing, and proper equipment are a must.
An optional Course & Accommodations Package is available for up to 16 participants, which includes instruction, course materials, parking, lodging on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and meals starting with dinner Thursday evening through lunch on Sunday. To get the most out of the workshop, participants are encouraged to stay right at ADK’s facilities. Bunks are reserved for participants in our co-ed, communal lodging yurts. Package participants should bring their own sleeping bag/warm linens, a pillow, and towels. While the yurts are heated (55 degrees Fahrenheit), the wash house and restrooms are a two-minute walk from the Yurt Village so cold-weather clothing and a headlamp are required. If you are participating in the Lodging Package, you may arrive on Thursday anytime between 2pm and 6pm to claim your bunk and to get settled. Dinner will be served promptly at 6:15pm in the Adirondak Loj Dining Room. Breakfast will be served at 7:00am each morning in the Loj as well, but be sure that you return to the Yurt Village by 8:00am for instruction.
ADK members receive a 10% discount on programs and lodging. To reserve lodging at the Adirondak Loj, please call the Adirondack Mountain Club at (518) 523-3441 or book online.
