Wilderness First Responder Re-Cert
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
Health insurance is required to participate in the program.
The April 9th - 11th Open Recertification course is hosted at ADK’s Wiezel Trails Cabin, located at 1002 Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946. This intensive three-day workshop is open to graduates of any wilderness-based first aid training course that was at least 64 hours long and completed within 3 years of the proposed recertification option. Successful graduates of this course will receive Wilderness Medical Associates’ Wilderness First Responder, Anaphylaxis, and Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider-level CPR certifications. Wilderness Medical Associates’ WEMT graduates with a current EMT-B or Paramedic certificate may also recertify the wilderness portion of their WEMT with this course.
**If you are using this course to recertify a WMA WEMT it is your responsibility to let the sponsor know when registering, and to inform the instructor on the first day of class.**
Plan on meeting at 8:00am sharp each morning at ADK’s Wiezel Trails Cabin. Parking is available at the end of Hiker Parking Lot #2. Class will run until approximately 5:00pm each evening. Multiple sessions will be held outside in the rain, sunshine, or snow. Please be prepared for wintery conditions. Good physical condition, proper clothing, and proper equipment are a must.
An optional Course & Accommodations Package is available for up to 4 participants, which includes instruction, course materials, parking, lodging on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and meals starting with dinner Thursday evening through lunch on Sunday. To get the most out of the workshop, participants are encouraged to stay right at ADK’s facilities. Single rooms in the Wiezel Trails Cabin are reserved for participants in the package. Package participants should bring their own sleeping bag/warm linens, a pillow, and towels. The bedrooms are furnished with 2 sets of bunk beds, and the cabin contains 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a common area. If you are participating in the Lodging Package, you may arrive on Thursday anytime between 2pm and 6pm to claim your room and to get settled. A boxed dinner will be available at 6:30pm in the nearby Adirondak Loj. Breakfast will be served at 7:00am each morning in the Loj as well, but be sure that you return to the Wiezel Trails Cabin by 8:00am for instruction.
