Alpine Botany Hike to Wright Peak
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) guided alpine botany hike.
Health insurance is required to participate in this program.
This guided day hike to Wright Peak (elevation 4,580’, 7.6 miles round-trip with approximately 2,600’ of elevation gain) is designed especially for hikers who have an interest in learning about alpine ecology and botany. Our journey into New York State’s rarest ecosystem will be led by ADK’s Naturalist Trip Leader, Ryan Nerp. During his tenure as a Summit Steward from 2016-2018 and as the Dr. Norton Miller Botany Steward in 2019, Ryan made hundreds of trips into New York’s alpine zone to educate the public, identify plants, and to conduct research. Be prepared for an educational hike instead of a peak bagging pursuit. This trip departs from ADK’s Adirondak Loj Great Room at 7:30am. Along the way we’ll discuss safe backcountry travel and enjoy the rich natural history of the Adirondacks.
Prior hiking experience is highly recommended. Good physical condition, proper clothing, and proper equipment are a must.
ADK members receive a 10% discount on programs and lodging. To reserve lodging at the Adirondak Loj, please call the Adirondack Mountain Club at (518) 523-3441 or book online.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Mary Glynn, ADK’s Outdoor Skills Coordinator, at (518) 523-3480 x 111 or by email at email@example.com
We look forward to meeting you. Come prepared to learn and to have fun!
