Hiking 101 Online Workshop
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
This course requires a computer or tablet and internet access.
The Hiking 101 Online Workshop is an instructional course delivered to you from the comfort of your own home via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This course will cover all of the information you need to know before you plan your first hike, such as the "Ten Essential" gear items to bring, Leave No Trace Principles, how to decide on where to go, general hiking safety, and how to be a steward to the public lands you visit.
This half-day course will begin at 9am and conclude around 1pm with a few short breaks throughout. The course will be instructed by Mary Glynn, ADK’s Outdoor Skills Coordinator. Mary is an avid hiker, backpacker, and paddler, as well as a New York State Licensed Guide.
