The 46 High Peaks Online Workshop
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) online workshop.
This course requires a computer or tablet with internet capabilities. You will also need an Adirondack High Peaks map.
The 46 High Peaks Online Workshop is an instructional course delivered to you from the comfort of your own home via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This course will cover a wide range of topics relevant for aspiring 46ers: a historical introduction to the 46 High Peaks, route selection, approaching the “trail-less” peaks, hiking efficiency, backcountry safety, rules and regulations of the High Peaks region, and a proper equipment demonstration. We will also discuss Leave No Trace skills and ethics throughout this course, inspiring environmental stewardship to protect this region of New York’s Forest Preserve for generations to come.
Please plan on signing in to Zoom at 8:50am to allow time to test your connection. A private Zoom invitation will be sent to you a few days in advance. This course will begin at 9:00am and conclude by 5:00pm with a few short breaks throughout the day. The course will be instructed by Tyler Socash, ADK’s Education Programs Coordinator. Tyler is a 7-time 46er (1 round of the Winter 46) with over 7,000 miles of thru-hiking experience.
ADK members receive a 10% discount on programs. To learn more about other education programs ADK offers, check out adk.org.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Tyler Socash at (518) 523-3480 x 120 or by email at tyler@adk.org
We look forward to meeting you. Be prepared to learn and to have fun!
