Beginner Backpacker Online Workshop
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
This course requires a computer or tablet and internet access.
The Beginner Backpacking Online Workshop is an instructional course delivered to you from the comfort of your own home via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This course will cover all of the information you need to know before you plan your first backpacking trip, such as proper gear selection, food planning, Leave No Trace skills, safety considerations, water treatment, and waste management.
This half-day course will begin at 9am and conclude around 1pm with a few short breaks throughout. The course will be instructed by Mary Glynn, ADK’s Outdoor Skills Coordinator. Mary is an avid hiker, backpacker, and paddler, as well as a New York State Licensed Guide.
