Thru-Hiking Online Workshop
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
This course requires a computer or tablet with internet access.
The Thru-Hiking Online Workshop is an instructional course delivered to you from the comfort of your own home via Zoom, a video conferencing platform. This course is designed to cover topics surrounding long-distance backpacking: a full breakdown of lightweight gear options, an earnest discussion regarding trail culture, Leave No Trace skills, food preparation, mitigating common thru-hiking ailments, and an opportunity for strategic planning before your next big trip. Whether you are aspiring to attempt a multi-week or multi-month adventure, this online course is for you!
This half-day course will begin at 9am and conclude around 1pm with a few short breaks throughout. The course will be instructed by Tyler Socash, ADK’s Outdoor Programs Coordinator. Tyler has completed over 7,000 miles of thru-hiking, including the Pacific Crest Trail, Te Araroa across New Zealand, and the Appalachian Trail.
