Wilderness First Aid Spring
Thank you for your interest in an Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) workshop.
Health insurance is required to participate in this program.
The Wilderness First Aid workshop is hosted at ADK’s Education Yurt Village, located at 1002 Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946. This is an intensive two-day workshop that will teach students how to deal with medical emergencies when they are miles from help and dialing 911 is not an option. The curriculum is comprehensive, yet practical. It includes the essential principles and skills required to manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. Class time will be spent both inside and outside in the rain, sunshine, or snow. Please be prepared for colder conditions. Good physical condition, proper clothing, and proper equipment are a must.
Students who successfully complete the course will receive the Wilderness Medical Associates’ Wilderness First Aid certification and Healthcare Provider-level CPR.
The program will be led by instructors from Wilderness Medical Associates International. Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) has been teaching wilderness medicine courses throughout the country for over a decade and is recognized nationwide as a leader in the field of wilderness first aid. All WMA instructors have substantial experience in emergency medicine, backcountry trekking, and teaching.
ADK members receive a 10% discount on programs and lodging. To reserve lodging at the Adirondak Loj, please call the Adirondack Mountain Club at (518) 523-3441 or book online.
If you have any questions about the program please contact Mary Glynn, ADK’s Outdoor Skills Coordinator, at (518) 523-3480 x 111 or by email at mary@adk.org
