Dive into a memorable experience where every cast opens the door to adventure with our learn-to-shore-fish excursions at the tranquil Airy Trestle Bridge in Whitney. Our knowledgeable guides will provide the rods, gear and about 60 minutes of basic instruction, allowing you to focus on the thrill of the catch for the remainder of the event. Our excursions are crafted on Destination Northern Ontario's "Experience Fishing" program designed to enhance your confidence, skill and independence to fish on your own. Get ready for a memorable experience filled with discovery and perhaps a few new fishing tales to share! FISHING LICENSES: With ID that proves eligibility, children 17 years and younger, seniors 65 and older, veterans and active members of the Canadian Armed forces are exempt from fishing license requirements. All others are required to obtain a fishing license at their own cost. We will help you register online during the training session. Bring your own rod or borrow one of our kits at checkout. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. After the training session, guests will take their own vehicles to meet at the Airy Trestle Bridge, 185 Airy Road, Whitney, ON, K0J 2M0

We will harvest wintergreen leaves and explain the use that the Algonquin People used it for and how we honoured this as a gift from Mother Earth the participants will be shown how to pick it in a most respectful way we then will come back to our site and prepare the drink with spring water Ill do a blessing before we drink it this will require two hours with 12 participants it can be done twice a week depending on the amount of People.

Maybe all of the above are true. A guided Forest Bathing walk by certified Guide Marilyn Zehr* will assist in deepening your connection to this place. Guided Forest Bathing is an intentionally slow and mindful walk in the forest and is fit for all ages and most physical capacities.** This forest immersion experience is inspired by Shinrin-Yoku, the Japanese practice of Forest Bathing that has been proven to enhance health and wellness. During the walk you will be guided through a clearly defined series of open-ended invitations that will allow you to experience your surroundings more deeply.  Take a guided walk with Marilyn and you may become reacquainted with parts of the land and yourself that you’ve never known or forgotten. Along the way there will be opportunities to share your observations/insights with fellow participants. Most walks last from 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours. Every walk concludes with a wild-foraged tea and snack. Please note that the walk may include uneven pathways, rocks, roots, and mud. If you love being outdoors this is all good news. Be prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain. We will not cancel for moderate amounts of rain, only for thunderstorms. Be aware that this is not a strenuous hike and so please dress more warmly than you would for a hike.
